Palatine Demoen: At The Wunderwall Antwerp
Palatine Demoen was born in Ghent in 1999 and recently obtained her master's degree in painting at Luca School of Arts. She paints forms and objects from her recent and more distant past, drawing from small and large memories. She derives symbols from a continuously expanding archive, collected during travels or from everyday life. Images and words are intuitively connected to each other through the medium of painting. Her paintings exhibit a formal tension that is often subtly united with the emotional. The visual and the emotional perform constantly shifting motions in her paintings. It is up to the viewer to determine which meanings emerge from this peculiar choreography.
